Grand Slam

I was volunteering at an event at the 2012 DNC in Charlotte when I suddenly heard a voice over the crowd. It was mesmerizing, increasing in volume, a distinct cadence that was familiar . . . and then I knew it! It was slam poet Carlos Robson, performing the poignant and powerful Sam. The first time I heard it I knew I’d never forget it . . . and I didn’t! These artists are a local treasure.
