Master’s Thesis: A Communication Contract
In my graduate thesis “Word Unplugged: Transcending the New Social Communication Contract,” I advocate for meaningful connections through mindful discourse. Technology is an amazing tool — but only if we are intentional in how we use it. Now that we don’t experience boundaries between home and work, our efficient and speedy mode of professional communication may leave a bit to be desired within an interpersonal realm. Communication theory helps us to make sense of our “always on” culture.

Stirring Partisan Passions (Charlotte Observer)
When writing for The Charlotte Observer during the DNC, it was a challenge to express myself in 350 words a day. One of the best parts of that experience was focusing on what I thought was most important to say. Although my DNC pieces were partisan by definition (“Left Turn,”) I was glad to have this one “call to action” for all citizens . . . even those across the political aisle.
